American Citizen Services Unit

Welcome to the American Citizen Services Unit.

The United States government has no higher responsibility than to serve and protect its citizens, including those who reside or are temporarily abroad. To this end, the American Citizen Services unit in Guatemala provides prompt, courteous, and efficient services to United States Citizens and other clients, consistent with U.S. laws and regulations. For an overview of our services, visit services provided by the American Citizen Services Unit.

Our ACS office telephone number (502) 2326-4405 is answered during normal business hours, except Guatemalan and U.S. federal holidays.  Our fax number is (502) 2326-4655. Inquiries regarding American Citizen Services may be emailed to our office.  After hours, for emergency assistance call (502) 2331-2354.

We regret that we are unable to respond to U.S. visa and adoption inquiries from this mailbox.  More information about tourist and temporary work (NIV) visas, immigrant visas, and adoptions is contained on our Embassy website.  All questions about visas must be directed to the Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV) or Immigrant Visa (IV) Units, and Adoption inquiries directed to our Guatemalan Adoptions Unit.

The Embassy is located at Avenida Reforma 7-01,  Zona 10, Guatemala City, Guatemala. The American Citizen Services Office in the Embassy is accessed through the door on 7th Calle.

- Banned Items -

Please be aware that all visitors to the Consular Section will have to pass through a metal detector, and guards will examine all bags and purses.

The following items are banned from the consular section: cell phones, cameras, walkmans, CD players, MP3 players, Palm Pilots, laptop computers, and all other types of electronic equipment. Weapons of any kind are also prohibited. Thank you in advance for your compliance with these security measures.

Parents with small children will be allowed to bring essential items such as diapers, bottles, and blankets.
