Charisse Phillips

Charisse Phillips is the Chargé d'Affaires at Embassy Guatemala City. She was most recently the Deputy Principal Officer in Frankfurt, Germany from August 2011-May 2014. Previously she served as Consul General and Counselor for Consular Affairs in Lima, Peru, and before that, in the same position in Vienna, Austria.

She joined the Foreign Service in 1986, after working at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. Subsequently she served in Madrid, Spain; Hamburg, Germany; San Salvador, El Salvador and as Director of Fraud Prevention Programs in the Department of State. Her primary foreign languages are German and Spanish.

Ms. Phillips holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and in Government from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and Master of Arts in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia. She is married to retired Foreign Service Officer Gregory Phillips. They have two sons.
