Lost or Stolen Visas
If your passport containing a U.S. visa has been lost or stolen in Guatemala, you must report the loss or theft to the Public Ministry or the National Civil Police as soon as possible and receive a copy of the subsequent report. Please send the Embassy a note with your complete name and date of birth and a copy of the police report, by email (Guatemalafpm@state.gov) or fax ((502)2326-4674), as soon as possible. If the loss or theft took place abroad, you should submit a copy of the report you filed in the country the loss or theft occurred.
As soon as the Consular Section receives this report, the visa will be reported in U.S. Government databases as stolen / lost. This will alert the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) at all ports of entry into the United States and your visa can no longer be used to travel. Once the visa has been reported lost, neither you nor anyone else will be able to use it again, even if your passport is subsequently found. If you wish to obtain another visa, you will need to reapply and bring a copy of the previously submitted loss report to your interview appointment.
