U.S. Ambassador Stephen McFarland Participates in Friendly Soccer Match "90 Minutes Against Violence"
Guatemala, September 16, 2009
The "90 Minutes Against Violence" friendly soccer game took place on the evening of Wednesday, September 16. The match was played at the Mateo Flores stadium with the purpose of encouraging Guatemalan youth to practice sports and stay away from violence.

The activity was organized by Jóvenes Contra la Violencia (Youth Against Violence) with participation of ex-gang members, politicians, government officials, diplomats, religious leaders, artists, businessmen and professional soccer players.
The teams played a total of four matches between 19:00 and 21:30, in the presence of hundreds of spectators and the participation of school bands. The final score was seven goals for the light blue team and three for the white team.
