Ambassador McFarland pointed to the graduation as evidence of positive change in the Guatemalan highlands, drawing parallels with the campus itself, which is a converted military base. The 61 graduates, who were joined by university dignitaries, local officials, and hundreds of family members, graduated with technical degrees in education, agro-forestry, and tourism.
