Types of Non-Immigrant Visas
Student Visas
All applicants for student visas must complete the DS-156, which is the basic non-immigrant visa application form. Additionally, male applicants between the ages of 16 and 45 must also complete the DS-157.
All applicants for student visas should follow the normal process to apply for a non-immigrant visa. If your program begins very soon and you need an emergency appointment, please follow the instructions to request an expedited appointment.
Additionally, before your interview you must pay your SEVIS registration fee, which is currently US$100. You should save your receipt and bring it to your visa interview. You can pay the SEVIS fee online at http://www.fmjfee.com. Further information about SEVIS can be found at http://www.ice.gov/sevis.
When you come for your interview, you should give the officer the I-120 form that you received from the school where you plan to study.
During the interview, you will also be expected to show that you have adequate financial resources or scholarships to cover the cost of your study. Like most non-immigrant visa applicants, you will also have to show that you have strong ties to Guatemala.
