Visas
The Embassy of the United States of America in Guatemala is transitioning to a new appointment service for nonimmigrant visa applicants. This new system is being implemented throughout Central America, and is expected to be easier and more convenient.
- All services-- including calling for information, scheduling an appointment, and passport pickup at the Cargo Expreso office of the traveler’s choice--will be provided for a single fee.
- Applicants will no longer pay for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to schedule an appointment.
- Effective Friday, April 27: Applicants in Guatemala can either visit the new online scheduling website http://www.ustraveldocs.com/gt or contact the call center at 502-2470-0888 to get information or to start their application for a U.S. visa.
- Applicants will be able to pay on-line via credit card, rather than having to visit a Citibank or Banrural office in person. However, the in-person option remains available for those who prefer to pay in that manner.
Those who prefer not to make their appointment online should call 502-2470-0888, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 7 pm and Saturdays, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Callers in the United States should call (646) 259-0557 Monday through Friday, 8 am to 7 pm Central time and on Saturdays, 9 am to 3 pm Central time.
These services are the only official sources of general visa information from the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala and provide the only means of scheduling a personal interview for a nonimmigrant visa.

Changes in Visa Processing Fees
Effective April 13, 2012, the Department of State will adjust visa processing fees. The fees for most nonimmigrant visa applications and Border Crossing Cards will increase, while all immigrant visa processing fees will decrease.
The Department is required to recover, as far as possible, the cost of processing visas through the collection of application fees. For a number of reasons, the current fees no longer cover the actual cost of processing nonimmigrant visas. The nonimmigrant visa fee increase will support the addition and expansion of overseas facilities, as well as additional staffing required to meet increased visa demand.
Although most categories of nonimmigrant visa processing fees will increase, the fee for E visas (treaty-traders and treaty-investors) and K visas (for fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens) will decrease.
